2017-01-18: Version 0.4.0 of LibrAlign released

A new version of our GUI library providing powerful components for displaying and editing multiple sequence alignments and attached raw- and metadata was released.
 

2017-01-09: Version 2.12.0 of TreeGraph released

A new version of our phylogenetic tree editor can be downloaded from http://treegraph.bioinfweb.info/Download.

It offers new functionality in calculating node/branch data and visualizing metadata.

A new version of our Java library bioinfweb.commons has been released. It consists of different modules to be used in bioinformatics or in a general purpose that are made available under GNU LGPL 3.

2016-12-14: Version 0.3.0 of JPhyloIO released

A new version of our library for reading and writing of phylogenetic file formats through one event-based interface was released.
 

2016-12-02: Demo Applications for JPhyloIO available

As a part of the documentation of our Java library JPhyloIO for event-based reading and writing of phylogenetic data, we now provide four demo applications that allow to quickly get started and show the different features.
 

2016-11-09: Version 0.2.0 of JPhyoIO released

A new version (0.2.0) of our library for reading and writing of phylogenetic file formats through one event-based interface was released. The current API now contains all currently planned functionality and is expected to remain mostly unchanged compared to the upcoming release of version 1.0.0, but we still await possible reviever comments on the related paper.

2016-06-08: Nachruf Joachim Röschenbleck

Wir nehmen Abschied von unserem plötzlich und viel zu früh verstorbenen Kollegen, Dozenten, Mitarbeiter und Freund Dr. Joachim Röschenbleck.

Mit außergewöhnlichem Engagement und enormer Kompetenz war Joachim Röschenbleck viele Jahre als Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im Botanischen Garten der Universität Münster und in den Instituten für Evolution und Biodiversität und Biologie und Biotechnologie der Pflanzen tätig.

Durch beharrlichen Einsatz und große Leidenschaft für seine Tätigkeit konnte er nicht nur wesentliche Erkenntnisse zu seinem Forschungsfeld beitragen, sondern auch viele Impulse zur stetigen Weiterentwicklung des Botanischen Gartens geben.

Den Besuchern des Botanischen Gartens war Joachim nicht zuletzt durch seine unzähligen und exzellenten Führungen bekannt. Besonders beeindruckten hierbei seine außergewöhnlichen Pflanzenkenntnisse, wie sie in diesem Umfang inzwischen äußerst selten geworden sind. Dabei vermochte er sein Wissen immer auf sehr unterhaltsame und eindrückliche Weise zu vermitteln. So konnte er auch die Studierenden auf Führungen, Exkursionen und in Praktika für botanische Inhalte und Fragestellungen begeistern und hinterlässt als geschätzter Dozent auch in der universitären Lehre eine große Lücke.

Seine immer lebensfrohe, hilfsbereite und kollegiale Art wird uns allen sehr fehlen. Unser aufrichtiges Mitgefühl gilt den Angehörigen. Tief betroffen trauern wir mit ihnen um Joachim.

A new version (2.6.0) of our editor for phylogenetic trees was released. Additionally new features were presented on a poster at the 5th annual Münster Graduate School of Evolution Symposium.

Our servers are undergoing maintenance work on October, 12th 2015 between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m CEST. During that time the served websites of the WWU and the bioinfweb project might be temporary unavailable.

Our following new article has been published:

Kilian N, Henning T, Plitzner P, Müller A, Güntsch A, Stöver BC, Müller KF, Berendsohn WG, Borsch T: Sample data processing in an additive and reproducible taxonomic workflow by using character data persistently linked to preserved individual specimens. Database, 2015:bav094

Our group developed the components necessary to process molecular data, including the libraries LibrAlign, JPhyloIO and TIC.
 

2015-09-27: Version 2.5.0 of TreeGraph 2 released and presented at GCB

A new version (2.5.0) of our editor for phylogenetic trees was released. Additionally new features were presented on a poster at the German Conference on Bioinformatics 2015.
 

2015-04-15: Im Fortgeschrittenenmodul "Subalpine und alpine Vegetation temperater Hochgebirge am Beispiel der Zentralalpen mit Exkursion ins Ötztal" sind noch Plätze frei.

2014-06-30: First version of AlignmentComparator released and presented at the 4th MGSE symposium

The first version of our new software project AlignmentComparator - an application to efficiently visualize and annotate differences between alternative multiple sequence alignments - has been released. It can be downloaded under bioinfweb.info/AlignmentComparator.

The new software has also been presented with a poster during the 4th annual Münster Graduate School of Evolution Symposium which can also be viewed online here.
