DNA sequence alignment for phylogenetic analysis
Comparative analyses of computerized procedures and treatments of single event sequence blocks
We cooperate with Mark Simmons (Colorado State Universtiy, USA) on comparing alternative computerized alignment procedures via simulation studies and empirical data, and contrast these procedures with current approaches for combining alignment and tree building into one step. We are also interested in ways to incorporate secondary structure information into alignment, and in particular in the treatment of single event sequence blocks and microstructural changes in automatic and manual alignment.
